OpenAI Academy organizes Small Business AI Jam United States-wide

OpenAI Academy is gearing up for a nationwide event designed to bridge the gap between artificial intelligence (AI) and small businesses. The Small Business AI Jam, scheduled for November 20, will take place simultaneously in five major U.S. cities: San Francisco, New York City, Houston, Detroit, and Miami. This initiative aims to provide hands-on learning experiences for 1,000 small business owners, empowering them with practical AI tools for their everyday operations.

Connecting Small Businesses with AI Mentors

This one-day event, hosted by OpenAI Academy, will pair small business owners with AI mentors to explore how artificial intelligence can streamline their business processes. Participants will receive guidance in creating tailored AI solutions, with examples ranging from automated social media planners for café owners to scheduling assistants for salon owners.

"Small businesses power local economies - but many don’t have the time, resources, or technical background to explore how AI can help with day-to-day work. That’s why on November 20, OpenAI Academy is teaming up with DoorDash, SCORE Mentors, and Small Business Majority to launch the Small Business AI Jam - a nationwide, hands-on workshop designed to make AI practical and accessible for ‘Main Street’ businesses", stated OpenAI Global Affairs.

Practical and Accessible AI Tools

The workshops are designed specifically to make AI approachable for small business owners, even those with little to no technical expertise. Each participant will leave the event equipped with a ready-to-use AI solution tailored to their unique business needs. Additionally, attendees will gain access to follow-up resources through OpenAI Academy to continue their learning and implementation journey.

Expanding Access Beyond Five Cities

While the in-person events are the centerpiece of the initiative, OpenAI Academy has also announced virtual workshops for those unable to attend in one of the five cities. These online sessions will take place on December 4 and January 15, ensuring that small business owners across the country have an opportunity to benefit from the program.

By partnering with organizations like DoorDash, SCORE Mentors, and Small Business Majority, OpenAI Academy aims to make AI an accessible and practical tool for small businesses, empowering them to innovate and thrive in today’s competitive market.
